LONGFORM: MONOSCENE
John Portero, Instructor
Saturdays Noon-2:30pm (2.5 Hours)
September - October 24 (5 Weeks, No Class Oct 10)
Bad Dog Studio (392 Spadina Ave)
Description: Learn one of the most unique longform styles! Unlike nearly every other longform format, Monoscene is distinct in that it has no external editing. No sweeps, no tag outs. Additionally, everything takes place in a single location and at one time. Yet through these limitations improvisors are still able to craft and weave together narrative threads and create compelling stories and performances. In addition to the joy of playing together with their peers, students will learn techniques to sustain character and narrative and elevate their longform toolkit. (This class has a performance opportunity as part of its curriculum).
Goal: To learn and experiment with the Monoscene format; including best approaches for structure, character performance, and the use of entrances and exits.
Prerequisite: Improv Foundation 4 or equivalent experience
Class Size: 10 people max
Duration: 5 weeks x 2.5 Hours
Location: Bad Dog Studio (392 Spadina Ave)
