SOLO CHARACTER CREATION FOR SKETCH & THEATRE

Description: On both the stage and social media, comedians are breaking through with solo character-based sketch comedy. It is an inexpensive way to use your performance skills in a way that expresses your point of view and reach a (potentially unlimited) audience. Learn why this format is so popular, and how to make it work for you. (This class will have a performance opportunity).
Prerequisite: An interest in the material and at least some performance and/or creative writing experience preferred.
Cost: $350+HST

About The Instructor: Curtis Campbell is an award-winning writer of novels, plays, and comedy. Their plays Gay For Pay and Blake & Clay's Gay Agenda received a Dora nomination for Best New Play, won the Second City Award for Outstanding Comedy, and have been published by Scirocco Drama. Their debut novel Dragging Mason County was selected for the White Raven List, was a finalist for the White Pine Award, and won a Publishing Triangle Award. Their new novel Lying, Stealing, And Other Ways To Save The Planet will be published in 2026 and is currently available for preorder. In addition to his writing practice, Curtis regularly teaches writing workshops for young adults.
